Recurring payments
Rent, utilities, the car payment, school fees. The things that come back every month and are not subscriptions.
The distinction matters: Netflix is a subscription, rent is a recurring payment. They are different screens because they are different problems, and merging them produced two screens showing the same list.
How something becomes recurring
Mark a transaction as recurring when you record it, and choose its frequency. That row becomes the template, and the app generates each occurrence as its date arrives.
Occurrences are generated when you open the app. There is no server generating them for you, so if you do not open the app for two months, the two months are created the next time you do.
You can also set an end date, for the loan that finishes in eleven payments.
Both directions
Recurring income works too: a pension, rent you collect, a retainer. It projects and reminds exactly like an expense does.
What appears in the hub
The hub is a view over your obligations, not a new list:
- Recurring transactions, expenses and income.
- Subscriptions only if you set them so the app records them itself, since that makes them recurring payments in practice.
Credit cards do not appear here. Their payment is manual and they have their own handling, with their own reminder.
Balances and dates
A recurring row counts in your balances once its date has arrived. It is a real payment even though it carries a recurrence mark. Only occurrences scheduled in the future are excluded, which is what makes the projection useful rather than misleading.
