Home screen widgets
Widgets put the app's most useful numbers on your phone's home screen, where you see them without opening anything.
They are free, on iPhone and Android.
What is available

The small Quick add has one button, expense, because a small widget can only have a single tap target and expenses are the overwhelming majority. The medium one has both buttons.
The balance widget shows three figures
Your total, and underneath it the two numbers that make it up: available money and savings. If those three ever fail to add up, or fail to match what the app shows, that is a bug worth reporting, because the widget reads exactly the same figures as the app.
Hiding amounts
A switch in Settings replaces every amount on the widget with •••. The widget still tells you it is there and still opens the app, without showing your balance to whoever glances at your phone on the bus.
How it stays up to date
The app leaves an already formatted, already translated snapshot for the widget to draw. Nothing leaves your device, and the widget does no calculation of its own.
That also means the widget is as fresh as the last time the app updated it. Open the app and it refreshes.
