Share money with your partner

Couples adds a shared fund to AI Money: a single pot that two people contribute to and spend from, with both of you seeing the same numbers.

It sits beside your personal finances rather than inside them. Your accounts, your balances and your transactions stay private, and that is not a setting, it is how the feature is built.

The privacy rule

Your partner sees the fund: who put money in, how much, when, and what each movement was for.

Your partner never sees your accounts, your balances or your personal transactions. Which account you contributed from is stored only on your phone and never crosses into the shared space.

The only personal details that travel are the name and avatar you had when you joined, so the other person knows who is who.

Setting it up

One of you creates the space and invites the other with a code. Whoever accepts joins immediately.

Only the person who creates the space needs Pro. The person joining does not, so a Pro user can bring their partner in without asking them to pay for anything. That is why the module never shows a locked badge before you open it: the price is explained inside, and it does not apply to the half of the couple that was invited.

If you have an invite code, there is a I have a code entry on the same screen, available whether or not you have Pro.

Using the fund

  • Contribute: money moves from one of your accounts into the fund. Your account balance goes down, the fund goes up.
  • Spend: shared expenses come out of the fund, and both of you see them.
  • Withdraw: taking money back out of the fund is the one action that is verified on our servers, because it is the only one that takes cash out of the pot.
  • Categories, budgets and goals exist inside the space too, kept separate from your personal ones.

The fund is always shown in the currency of the space, natively. It is a separate pot, it does not enter any of your personal totals, and there is no currency switch for it.

On your home screen

With an active space, a Common fund card shows the pot's balance and the contributions of the month. Without one, a discovery card appears, and a single tap on its ✕ removes it for good.

Leaving

You can leave a space. What was already recorded in the fund stays in the fund, since it belongs to both of you, and your personal ledger is untouched.
